Board Chief urges public to get involved in ‘Transforming Your Care’
A series of public meetings to discuss the future of health and social care in Northern Ireland begin this evening.
Transforming Your Care is one of the most significant and wide-ranging health and social care reforms in decades, and presents a significant opportunity to fundamentally improve the quality of care for everyone in Northern Ireland.
Sixteen public meetings will take place across Northern Ireland starting in Belfast today and continue over the next three weeks until 11th December.
Chief Executive of the Health and Social Care Board, John Compton urged the public to join in the debate.
“Transforming Your Care (TYC): Vision to Action, is a consultation document summarising the changes proposed to Northern Ireland’s Health and Social Care system. The proposals focus on reshaping services in order to make best use of all available resources ensuring that the services which we provide are safe, resilient, high quality and sustainable for the future.”
“Health and social care impacts on every single person in Northern Ireland at some point in our lives so it is vitally important that you have the opportunity to have your say.
“This consultation exercise seeks your views – as patients, clients, services users, carers, service providers and citizens – about how we respond to the proposals set out in Transforming Your Care. At this point no decisions have been made and we are firmly committed to ensuring that everyone is kept fully informed,” he said.
“Getting involved in the process is simple,” added Mr Compton, “You can log onto the consultation website at www.tycconsultation.hscni.net and complete the online questionnaire, or attend the nearest public meeting to you and join in on the debate locally.”
A leaflet providing more details about Transforming Your Care and explaining how people can get involved and make their voices heard is being delivered to every household in Northern Ireland.
